Why Paint For A Smile?

I’m not an “artsy fartsy” type and you won’t find me waxing lyrically about “Juxtapositions”. Really? Why do artists even use that word?

I put my hand up to admit, that I had to look it up to find out what it meant. And, just in case you now need to know too – it is the placement of two things (usually abstract concepts) near each other. Yep – need I say any more.

I pRIMG0794aint because I love it. I love it! I love seeing the colours merge and blend, creating their own patterns and stories.

I want my paintings to make You smile – end of story.

If you feel more than that, that is great. If you can “see” images within my paintings, that is great too. There is no right or wrong.

Why just a smile?

Because everyone deserves something to smile at. We are continuously fed a diet of over-dramatized, sensationalised, sad and horrific images all day – newspapers, tv, current affairs, movies.

I just want to interrupt that flow even if just for a millisecond, to show something that is beautiful just because!

Something to smile at – just because!
